Pros
They still have the 911 contract in Riverside for all those enamored with being a "first" responder. Maybe it looks good on a resume for future emergency or medical field jobs? The coolest co-workers with minimally supervised downtime. This means you can study and/or be on your phone. Even when it's busy I'd say most of the job is talking with your partners or looking stuff up on your phone.
Cons
EMTs are in a dangerous field and deal with lots of literal poo (though less than nursing) up to and including death. We are underpaid! Though better paid than most other private ambulance companies. This ends up equalling steep Union dues for an incompetent union that doesn't do much except trying to bargain with severely limited leverage.
