Pros

I greatly enjoy the mission-oriented, yet informal culture of AOPA. The people I work with on a daily basis work hard, are friendly, are helpful, but don't take themselves too seriously. If you are not a licensed pilot, AOPA provides an opportunity to learn-for free. If you are a pilot, staying current is encouraged through proficiency funds, which is awesome. My salary is competitive and fair.

Cons

No place is perfect of course, and there are times when work has been stressful, but honestly, what job isn't at times? I will take a clear focus of what my end result should be any day before low stress and not having metrics to work towards.

Pros

AOPA does a great job of developing a sense of community among the employees. All employees are invited to attend AOPA's aviation events but there is no sense of requirement. Great benefits(who else teaches you to fly as a benefit?!). You can really feel the passion and dedication to GA from everyone, senior management to accounting to IT. I definitely don't plan on going anywhere soon. As someone who hasn't worked here long, I can also say that I've never worked for a company with a more seamless onboarding process.

Cons

No real cons. As with any other industry, there's a bit of a learning curve if you don't come in with an aviation background, but the organization makes learning the industry fun and easy.

Good for a short stay....

Pros

Great benefits, 401k, although the health insurance is a confusing mess.

Cons

No upward mobility. Definite "cast system" mentality. Pay is on the low side and they are quick to get rid of decent workers who have been employed for many years in order to bring in someone fresh out of college for substantially less pay! Lots of back stabbing for minimal gain.
