Outstanding opportunity for non-degreed IT staff

Pros

Job security (low amount of terminations while I was employed there) Satisfactory benefits package Impressive client base for a small company

Cons

Inconvenient location (nearest large city 45 min away) "The longer you work here the better" mentality is not conducive to retaining quality employees, as new talent is not recognized until years later. Training of new employees is pathetic, slow and unstructured. Starting salaries are low compared to other IT companies (they base their pay scale on other companies in the town, which is a small town in WI of about 12K) They promote a non-degreed corporate culture which is not sustainable in the long term with regard to the ever advancing IT/IS industry.

Pros

- The opportunity to work with very intelligent people. - It's the leading technology in its niche. - The client base is also very intelligent and tech savvy. - The healthcare world and the demand for our product will grow for years to come. - High levels of mutual respect amongst colleagues. - Very good benefits packages for a company this size.

Cons

- Despite management pleas to the contrary, it's now all about the billable time, and the massive gaming we have to play to meet goals. - There is no incentive to explore and innovate outside of the very tight boundaries we work in. - The devaluing of experience through forced adherence to standard practices. - Salaries than can be 20% to 35% below market rates. - The office building is a drab, soul draining place with rows and rows of neatly ordered cubicles. There is very little collaborative space. - Most associates are salaried, which means lots of extra hours with no additional compensation. It's all free labor to the company.
