Pros

You may be able to make good friends with some nice people around. However, this depends on the group you are in and projects you are working on.

Cons

Without any lab technician, you gonna do EVERYTHING yourself. Even during COVID-19 pandemic, you will come onsite every single day and work in very crowded lab. With people come and go so frequently, you gonna work on multiple projects and people will always put more workload on you. Poor lab layout will drive you nuts. Metrology room crowded and noisy level > 80db. You will be crazy if you work inside for long. Lack of metrology equipment. People fight for metrology tooltime all the time. Poor management. Upper management tends to blame bottom level engineer for everything, even including procurement. Micromanagement is common here. You tend to have many bosses and they will point you to different directions. Poor Work-Life Balance. Weekend is treated as normal operating days.

Pros

Starting pay, ........manage..nope.....upper manage...nope, Pay rais...nope,

Cons

Pay raises are for the birds, if you consider the scraps they give us pay raises. Management is something to be wanted. You bust your arss, have no recognition unless you are a friends with management. Good Ol' Boy Club is in full effect here. Was told upon hiring the only way to get a decent pay raise is to leave the company and that is completely true. Company culture is such of the mentality you are going do this and that for us and don't expect something in return. If you do expect something bend over and assume the position.

The reality of working at ASM

Pros

As a semiconductor company, ASM is growing rapidly both in size and technology. There are no shortage of challenges or opportunities for growth.

Cons

My positions requires me to work with many different teams across ASM, as a result provides me with insight into a lot of different areas. There is absolutely no work/life balance. The level of expectation is borderline inhumane, even for top performers. Inside politics play a significant role in challenges you will face internally. Due to these reasons, opportunity is there but often unobtainable.
