Pros

A lot of smart engineers who (for the most part) will take time out of their busy schedules to help.

Cons

You will work overtime to make impossible deadlines with no appreciation, then get blamed for other peoples mistakes by senior staff/management, who will then joke in front of you about how they blame software for all of their problems. Bad location with high housing costs. No role clarity or any real training, and you'll be moved around on projects to rush work with no explanation. Process is horrible and time consuming but if you make any suggestion to improve upon it you risk being retaliated against by arrogant senior staff.

Pros

The pay and benefits are really good here. I great starting point if you're fresh out of college.

Cons

Some of the people who work here, especially in HR and management are TERRIBLE to work with. They're incredibly close-minded and don't practice a collaborative mindset (which they preach). I also have terrible work-life balance being here. But they pay is good, so it's good enough for now.

Pros

ASML are about some of the best corporate overlords to have. It's a highly matrixed organization that separates business and technical management into different tracks, which ensures high quality decision-making. Work-life balance is highly valued and respected, if unevenly achieved. The people I work with are some of the most talented in the world, but the hiring practices are not clubby or exclusive like FAANG. There is a great culture of openness and debate; you will not be punished for speaking your conscience. Even at its least sexy, the work is still amazing and mind-blowingly advanced. ASML is a high-pressure environment, but most of us don't actually mind the pressure - former ASMLers most resemble military veterans' level of performance under pressure and high drive relative to other companies.

Cons

Unfortunately, the company is choking on its own processes; we are not nimble enough to get simple engineering changes done in a remotely reasonable time. US HR is parasitic and speaks out of both sides of its mouth. Relentless customer focus driven by paranoia about our dominant market position has turned into a management culture that rewards obsessing about escalations and kissing daily [rear-end] at the expense of actually doing your job or planning ahead to prevent future headaches. Too often, the people who can write a pretty slide deck while blaming others for screw-ups are promoted over those who are competent and selfless - it's about 50/50. The only way anyone moves up around here is by leaving and then coming back at a higher level.
