Pros

Great medical benefits, decent time-off plan, beautiful working space, fantastic perks such as weekly Fri Lunch presenters (random, varied topics), and community volunteer opportunities. Genuine interest in and awareness of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and continued, sincere efforts (as much as can be done in a gigantic company) to work toward improvement. Opportunity to work and collaborate with really great, extremely intelligent and focused people.

Cons

Work-life balance can vary a lot, depending upon the team you are in. HR support for employees is, for the most part, all self-service (online). Many managers can seem over-burdened with company (AWS) processes and red tape; may not actually have time to mentor or give much feedback. You should be assertive and ask questions if they are not communicating with you. If they aren't readily available, find a good mentor or two for yourself!

Pros

Leadership is seemingly transparent, and supportive of calculated risk taking Learning & developing new skills is HIGHLY encouraged and prioritized New office building is great Working alongside some of the best and brightest in the industry Emphasis on giving back to the local community

Cons

As AWS Elemental has matured and further integrated into AWS, there have been some pains and bottlenecks as orgs learn and develop new processes to align with AWS process. Amazon is HUGE, and sometimes it feels like you need to talk to, and get approval from 20 different teams to accomplish one small task
