      Cool technology but very poor management. Since Abbot purchase, company is rife with politics and extremely catty!

      Pros

      The MitraClip technology is cutting edge and has promise. It's a sexy product in the med device industry and definitely has positive clinical impact. Engineering group is saving grace.

      Cons

      Extremely political work environment. Poor management who value company loyalty over job competence. Few "A" quality players and sub-par clinical guidance from executives.

      Pros

      Good pay and benefits, new Abbott Vascular (AV) President, committed, talented and smart employees, great R&D pipeline with real patient benefits. New AV President trying to change culture to focus on the right things.

      Cons

      A couple hard years ahead but it will turn around when new products launch. Change in culture to focus on the important is starting to trickle down but not yet there. Burn out is rampant. Too many conflicting, urgent priorities seem largely driven from legacy KPIs & metrics that don't tie directly to new focus. Previous culture that meeting or exceeding all metrics is the minimum expectation on all fronts regardless of how trivial the metric, leads to wasted time, energy, focus and no work/life balance.
