      Location close to Freeway, Shopping and Restaurants. Co-workers.

      Cons

      Understaffed in virtually all support functions Off-shoring/Outsourcing jobs - no long term future, employees not valued Frequent employee RIFs to keep up quarterly numbers preceded by [unexplainable] upper management promotions Inability to challenge bad decisions Planning gets in the way of execution Business Excellence is a joke - we talk the talk, but we don't walk the walk CAPA process used far too frequently as a project management tool No technical ladder for growth

      Pros

      Competitive pay and great benefits (3 weeks vacation to start, healthcare, 401k, profit sharing, and pension plan). Abbott is a company that once you start working, you can quickly see yourself being there a long time. Plenty of opportunities to move across divisions and nicely structured career path.

      Cons

      Abbott has always been a silo-ed company. The ineffective communication between corporate functions and the divisions can cause major road blocks for projects. This may recede over time as there are major initiatives forcing cross-functional and divisional cooperation.

      HR Dept dishonest and disreputable - employees best interests far from their focus Reknown in industry for revolving-door-company; people join and soon leave due to company's politics, lack of ethics and treatment from Managers and HR alike Preach etkical values; practice the exact opposite -disreputable, dishonest, with long chain of unhappy employees within most of their Depts Worst company I and 5 others within same team have ever worked for between our combined 63 years experience
