Pros
There are a few good things. Vacation/Personal/Holiday time is pretty much average compared to other jobs. In my experience, the company was pretty flexible if unexpected time off was necessary, which was rare for me anyway. There are a handful of people that actually have good work ethics and make the day to day job easier and sometime fun to work with. Also, the company sometimes throws in a fun activity, like sales-support-week and a company luncheon. However, even when the company provides a luncheon, management 'asks' good/hard working employees to stay at work instead of going to a company luncheon. How does this make people take pride in their job? Literally, an email is sent out to certain people 'asking' them to stay at work instead of going to the company's own provided lunch. This year, it was at a large pizza joint where oven baked Tombstone Pizza tastes better. MmmmmMmmm.
Cons
Overall, there are more cons than pros at this company. First off, in my experience for about an year and half of service, management was completely INCOMPETENT. The only way people in management hold the job they have is because they know someone, which also seems to be the main route of promotions within the company. As a result of this process, it is very hard to get fired from this company, not unless you have some serious issues. Secondly, employees often get thrown under the bus when management is trying to explain to the clients where the problem resides. There is hardly respect given to employees from management. In my experience, I have witness manegement get their employees names wrong (even when the employee has been working there 2 yrs!), they don't know how well their employees perform. They base employees performance on a system that is a joke. Anyone with a high school diploma can figure out a better system. I'll explain how the system is flawed. If you are a hard worker and cover for other people, the minute you get behind and/or miss something, you're scolded AND even your annual raise, if you luckily get one, is directly affected by your performance of the systems numbers - the numbers are flawed themselves. I have even heard management say the numbers are wrong and they don't want to fix them because 'their boss' will question it. You typically are written up because they always say they need a paper trail of managements actions. On the other hand, if you only do enough work to 'get by', then your performance numbers are going to be better and you'll get a bigger percentage of a raise. How is this right? How does this make sense? This promotes inefficiency, does it not? Thirdly, I have seen several reviews say that starting out is 'sink or swim', which is very true. I have also witnessed four people quit before they reach 3 months of employment because they have been overwhelmed and no one helps them out, which is managements job. Apparently this year, there is a Christmas/Year End party on a Friday this December, which all employees will get out about 11 oclock in the morning to go to this party to announce awards and celebrate the year with catered food. When the party is over about 3 or 3:30 in the afternoon, do you get to go home? Nope, not at Acosta. It is back to work for two hours or so... then you go home at 5. I actually left on good terms. I found a better job for me. I made a lot of friends from Acosta but it doesn't take much for anyone to see how backwards this place is. They make it EASY to establish a 'hate' relationship with the company you work for.
