Poorly executed private equity play

Pros

OK (but not outstanding) compensation/benefits If you're looking to slide into semi-retirement, they'll be OK with you filling a cube and pretending to work a few hours a day.

Cons

A failing attempt to glue a handful of somewhat related tech companies into a shell of a company before selling it off. Significant exodus of talent, resulting in customer support and sales problems. Very cynical treatment of employees. Remaining staff very demoralized; many are counting the days to bonus out. Career growth and stock options are mostly imaginary, since this is a PE play to be sold off asap; see www.garnetthelfrich.com

Pros

- Quality People - Lots of Talent - Culture was supportive to a work/life balance - Willingness to help, everyone is rowing in the same direction

Cons

For the quality of talent that came through the company's doors and the loyalty and dedication from employees to provide success, I felt there was little recognition and/or appropriate advancement for work efforts and achievements, and the pay was severely below market/industry wages. - Recognized as an "incubator" company: People would work there for a couple of years to gain experience/knowledge, then leave for another company that offered competitive market salaries. - Huge disparity in job compensation: An employee would make double the salary of another individual in the same job and possess similar or less experience and qualifications, and overall contribute less to position objectives. - Perceived Partiality: Some employees seemed to advance quite quickly over others who possessed more experience, time at company, company/product knowledge and recognized work contributions. - Leadership is NOT driving Innovation nor developing staff for future growth. - Lack of internal training process and communication. - Sometimes felt stuck with little-to-no advancement opportunities available.
