Pros

Just the right amount of policies/procedures -- pretty sane group that way. I'm also attached to a group that has a ridiculous, overwhelming, hiring process (I refuse to 'onboard': when you 'onboard' a vessel, you embark onto it. GA!) which actually wanted me to run get a UA on 24h notice. This group has much more reasonable policies for 'field' employees -- they hire adults, they make reasonabie accommodations.

Cons

It really, really varies by group and campaign. The first campaign I was on was remotely managed by a manager who DID micro-manage a great deal -- especially my field manager, a real sweetheart -- until he gave 2 weeks notice. And then the campaign was basically on autopilot -- and my field manager was no longer responsible for me. Weird. I joined another group, and i really enjoyed my field manager, just as before, and learned some useful skills. It's marketing: some assignments come off as frankly nonsensical. Sometimes there's just not enough training to reasonably go onto a sales floor and 'train' anyone, really -- and I feel like I'm being sent out to quiz retail staff and audit/inventory the store. The web software for giving call reports isn't awful, but isn't the more expensive version that would, indeed, work a lot better. Regrettable, but not tragic. I've been told about some VERY abrupt 'staff changes' -- ie, if you weren't invited onto the right conference call, you no longer had any work. Horrible. Not a good way to maintain rapport/loyalty with the rest of your field staff. Frightening!! Regrettably, considering what I just wrote, it's hard to feel much loyalty when you know what may very well happen -- with no notice.
