Pros

Pay was within market range. Pay was higher with professional certifications and jobs within critical care units (including surgery). Free parking. Wonderful clergy staff, although I’ve heard the department’s incredible Manager was fired—huge mistake. Faith-based hospital owned by Adventist Health System.

Cons

Nurses in surgical areas are overworked and under appreciated. It’s all about the money and rushing through the surgical processes—PreOp, IntraOp, and PostOp. Even though the hospital’s Publicity Team puts out great advertisements to the public, RNs are not encouraged to “live and work” the Mission Statement which is: To Extend The Healing Ministry Of Christ. I don’t know about other departments, but nurses in Surgical Services were often miserable, stressed, and unhappy. Big turnover. There were very few Team Leaders with positive attitudes. RNs felt helpless to try and make a “difference”.

Pros

Variety of work, some of the Leadership team are incredible, and really supportive of growth in knowledge and skills. Its nice to have managers willing to take your suggestions on how to improve work flow and help to put those ideas into action. Onsite parking, very helpful when hours are unpredictable. Cafeteria has some nice options

Cons

- No Paid National Holidays for office support staff. You have to use your own PDO all the time, and they close for multiple days, so use almost all your allocated PDO on office closures. - No overtime at the moment, and if you do end up with overtime because your work load was excessive, they scrutinize every minute of your day to find out why you stayed. Always blame you for being inefficient - If you resign, you only get PDO paid out at 75%, and you can't use any in your resignation period.

Pros

Pays well. Opportunity for incentive pay. Self scheduling.

Cons

Managers micromanage the staff. Experienced nurses are treated like new grads.
