An Amazing Place to Learn and Grow

Pros

Adwerx is a very special place filled with very special people, and it shows the moment you walk in the door. From day all the way through my employment my colleagues and leaders made me feel supported and empowered. It's not the type of workplace where you can coast. I consider this a great thing - you'll be pushed to perform to your peak performance, and then some. This is *not* for everybody, but for those who are driven by personal excellence and growth, you will thrive and grow into the best version of yourself. Growth (or, rather, "We embrace growth") is one of the core values of Adwerx, along with "We leave a positive wake," "We take ownership," and "We seek the truth." The company actually adheres to these values in real ways. They're a part of the hiring process, the review process, and decision making on a daily basis. Adwerx as a company is in major growth stage right now. They constantly try to innovate products to stay ahead of the game and have been successful in creating a couple of categories to date - and they're going for it again. In terms of funding, the company has been very hesitant to raise more capital, opting instead for cash flow generated within the business. This is a great thing; it means some of the more common issues with working for a startup (i.e. VCs breathing down your back) aren't as prevalent here. Leadership mostly maintains an open door policy where you can ask a question or voice concern. In my experience, even when a course is set you may disagree with, you'll at least receive the "why" behind the decision. During my time at Adwerx I was given many opportunities for my own personal development, and I took them. I wouldn't be the person I am today without the flexibility and the opportunities I had at Adwerx, and I'm much better for it.

Cons

Adwerx is in growth mode right now. This is exciting, but as anyone who's worked in start ups knows, it can be difficult to manage. Managers are being asked to juggle new responsibilities and strategies regularly, at times seemingly chaotically. Communication is getting better, but had been a struggle for a while. It's still not perfect - you may need to proactively ask for updates from your team's leadership, for example - but there are usually outlets to find the answers you need. You'll be expected to manage your own time, personal and professional, and if you don't guard the former it will be taken by the latter. All in all, though, the cons to me were outweighed by the positives.

Pros

Adwerx is fully remote and allows you to work from anywhere in the US. The position I had, inside sales, has great management and team. The people you work with are awesome. There are a lot of moving pieces at the company so it allows you to move up quick and get promoted. The harder you work, the more you get paid and are recognized. It is small maybe 120 employees so you can get leadership recognition.

Cons

Due to the nature of all small companies, sometimes there are uncertainties. It will not be as structured as an IBM or Oracle. A lot of the time I was there I was part of experiments within the company. This can be perceived as positive for some, or a con for others who want more assurance.

Great CEO, that’s it

Pros

Most coworkers are pretty great. There will be a few that will become your support system. The culture was fun in person a lot of times.

Cons

Yeah, favoritism and unfair treatment is definitely a thing here and it’s not a secret. Any complaint or bad survey is never addressed. Promises aren’t honored, expect to be overworked, underpaid and undervalued depending on your department, and have your morals tested. My advice is to ask the employees in the department you’re hiring into if they enjoy coming to work. Disappointing experience
