Pros

Aetna really cares about its customers. There is a real drive to find a solution for the uninsured. In addition, the company cares about its employees and puts a lot of effort into employee surveys and takes action from those.

Cons

The advancement opportunities are very limited unless you are in sales or IT. Too many of the opportunties are tied to the Hartford office or a specific site even when it is not required for the job. The salaries for division managers and site leads is not sufficient given that they are the ones who are responsible for the implementation of initiatives and must get individuals to move toward that as a group. Also, given the experience and skills of these groups, more decision making should reside at these levels.

Pros

opportunity to work from home is encouraged; higher education & professional development are supported & encouraged; opportunity to move within the company is encouraged.

Cons

large corporation with lots of red tape; messages get diluted when you rely only on intranet articles; in my role, more education on changes to roles would be greatly appreciated.
