Pros

Good work life balance. Great opportunity to move up and gain experience in the company. The people are all so helpful.

Cons

The pay is below average. If you care about employees compensate well enough to retain them and show appreciation for hard work and dedication.

Promising field, abysmal management

Pros

Agilent boasts proprietary production of oligonucleotides for RNA therapeutic drugs. This relatively new field shows signs of tremendous growth potential and rewarding careers.

Cons

The middle and upper management at the Boulder facility are solely concerned about increasing profits. They seem to be a bunch of "money" people (MBAs and finance) with little to no understanding of the complexities of chemical manufacturing. Lots of lip service to safety, many appeals for overtime to stick to an unrealistic production schedule. Internal communication is basically non-existent. Infighting among departments (manufacturing, QA, QC) with little trust or respect. This facility is devoid of good leadership, with extreme incompetence in planning and scheduling, in communication and training. There is no organized training protocol, relying on chemists to relay the shitload of tribal knowledge that keeps the equipment running.
