Great company, in transition
Pros
-Extremely knowledgeable colleagues, regarding technical development, support and sales -Teams are focused on what is achievable, even if the long term vision may be challenging -Great (vastly improved from past years) culture of inclusion and diversity. -Thoughtful debate is active and happening in certain circles, about how to continually improve the organization. -Fully remote work is the norm for most jobs, and it is good for productivity. -Great work/life balance. -The long term viability of this company's technology and vision is awesome, and will definitely result in growth, possibly on a large scale, if the teams are allowed to participate in the development management process., to avoid major failures.
Cons
-Top down management is still very much the norm here. -Agility and scrum are not well understood across the organization, so Waterfall practices still drive a majority of silos. -The term "scrum master" is seen as a bad thing by some very concerned and vocal members of the organization, because of the word "master", meanwhile many of the people in this debate have Masters degrees, employed a Master Carpenter/Plumber, or may have participated in ToastMasters. -Unrealistic longer term goals are presented by leadership sometimes, and open statement of short term goals can be frowned upon by some other leaders -Siloed information is the norm. -Human Resources seems to be in some transitional state, as hiring new talent was very challenging, with slow response times, disconnection from talent, and jobs appearing and disappearing from the listings, while HR consistently spams applicants with position listings.
