      Pros

      I'm a recent grad from RN to MSN. AHS is an ever evolving entity made up of several hospitals. I work at Highland campus which has changed its gritty edge to a relatively well functioning hospital. Otherwise known as "out with the old and in with the new"...this time, really for the better! The practitioners in this institution are very giving and culturally sensetive. They are teachers to multitudes of students at all levels of practice.

      Cons

      There will always be obstacles in this healthcare setting due to being non-profit and financially subsidized by government to provide care for the under served populations

      Pros

      co-workers, lax dress policy, ability to rearrange assignments sometimes.

      Cons

      Rough area, you have to pay $10 a day to park or try to find parking on the street which is next to impossible and if you do your car will get broken into or stolen. Very dirty hospital, EVS does not do their job. Constantly out of supplies such as blood tubes or even food and utensils. Not a safe place to work, there are many aggressive and violent patients. Staff members are constantly being cussed at, threatened, and assaulted by patients. No recognition for hard work. Management plays favorites and does not help defend it's employees from violations against the MOU or having scheduling privledges taken away. Sadly used to be a decent place to work but is no long that way. Over worked and underpaid and understaffed.

      Pros

      Interesting cases, passionate colleges, sense of promoting public health to underserved populations, multiple tools & activities available for assement & treatment for inspaired cognition, sequencing & motor planning. Generally a good team of therapists to work with. Translators readily available.

      Cons

      Antiquated documentation system, support staff is a bit lacking.
