      Pros

      The 401k plan is second to none. Associates receive a 5% discount off products.

      Cons

      The salaries and hourly wages are below industry average. Upper management needs to get with the times and adopt a new way of thinking about selling groceries. Very resistant to change and not open-minded. High turnover rate and high associate transfer rate.

      Pros

      Stability. Location. I say stability because I started with Albertsons when I was 16 years old, which is over twenty years ago. I started as a courtesy clerk and was well compensated at the time compared to other entry level positions for a 16 year old. Pay increased with the responsibility accepted. Location is a benefit as there so many Allbertsons, you have an opportunity to transfer to different locations if you would like to move.

      Cons

      Long hours. Working holidays. The stigma of working in a supermarket. The compensation has not kept pace with inflation. A weak union contract has made it difficult to hire and keep good help, and competition from other retailers, ie. Walmart has made it difficult to be profitable.
