Pros

Benefits and holiday pay decent

Cons

Horrible work atmosphere. Dog eat dog. Very disrespectful to the employees. Not as safe as they want you to think.

Not for Overachievers

Pros

Once hired, it can be difficult to get fired for cause.

Cons

While the C-suite enjoys an ever increasing suite of luxurious perks, they are consistently reducing benefits, withholding raises and cutting back for the regular employees who actually make the company run. It's a familiar story. Given the abysmal pay and horrible working conditions for educated professionals (no offices or cubicles, just giant desks shared with a dozen co-workers), it's not for talented go-getters who want to get ahead. This just isn't the place for talent. HOWEVER, if you want to coast, do a mediocre job and get by - then I think this could be a good fit.

Pros

Alcoa pays above average and almost all employees get bonuses. The company makes products that are used across industries and affect all of us in everyday life.

Cons

Ethical standards at this company are lax. It's every man for himself. "Leaders" give merely lip service to collaboration and buy in. Speaking your mind is not rewarded.
