Pros

Excellent Benefits (If it will still stay). It has some of the best benefits in health care, 401(k) match, etc. Excellent steps being taken by Sr. management in increasing diversity and advancing women in management.

Cons

CEO has vision, but the R&D management twists the implementation to their political benefit at the expense of employees/company. e.g. The Management by Objectives is a farce. Objectives set at the start of the year have little meaning. A small group decides performance review based on their personal biases, rarely looking at the objective data. Performance is even decided before the employee submits their performance info. HR has also lost its ethics and independence. Internal politics is encouraged by R&D management in Lake Forest, California location e.g. Roles & responsibilities constantly change or is deliberately left vague, and individuals or groups are pitched against other. Our e-mails for clarity / guidance are ignored by R&D management. Do they really care for the employee morale. e.g. we lost some excellent colleagues in R&D at this location, while the non-performing top management protected their own favorites.

Pros

Very good benefit, competitive salary, people in general are quite reasonable and understanding of the need for taking care of family. Product serves improving peoople's daily life, very interesting topics to think about.

Cons

Very complicated structure in the organization takes a lot of head count for the company but not enough people doing the actual work to improve the product and innovation of the technologies. A lot of people working with the company for a long time prevent exploring new method and ideas. I should say it is difficult to bring new ideas. Senior people are also not very open of sharing details about the work. It is not a pleasant place to fit in so it's difficult to feel connected with the company.

Pros

The best products in the industry with high ratings for Alcon employees and with good incentives schemes throughout.

Cons

Surgical team is the worst affected with lot of politics and useless people getting promoted just by licking their bosses. And moreover favoritism is the key to success
