      Pros

      Good Benefits: Vision, Dental, Prescription. Good company culture. Beautiful main campus facilities. In depth training that prepares you well for your job.

      Cons

      When the company was bought by Novartis a lot of things have changed, layoffs when we don't meet their absurd quotas when the entire industry is down. Even though Alcon has fared better than most of the market, Novartis expects too much while greatly diminishing the resources we have to complete their over demanding tasks.

      Close to none 401K. Forced PTO

      Cons

      Since, Alcon was acquired by Novartis, it seems like on the manufacturing side they only care about numbers, management comes to the production floor to look at the charts linear or non-linear. Quality it is out the question. I've working for Alcon for more than 8 I am leaving soon.

      Pros

      The compensation and benefits are OK. Some locations have Starbucks on site. In general, the eye care business has been A good place to be employed. After a few years here, you can move to a better company.

      Cons

      Poor work life balance is common. The company seems to lack coherent business strategy and there are too many self serving managers who lack basic skill, decency and leadership. The culture in too many departments is one of fear, intimidation and insecurity. The new product pipeline seems very weak given the number of employees and the large budgets.
