Pros

Compensation and benefits are probably the best in the consulting world. It is hard to imagine something better. Base salary is a tad lower than other consulting firms, but the comp structure is variable, so when you put in those long hours on a project, you're rewarded immediately. This is not discretionary, there is a formula for that. Benefits are fully covered by the firm. Work hours are flexible and they are respectful of needed/booked time off.

Cons

Career advancement is way slower than in other firms. You could be a partner at other firm and still be a VP/manager leve al AlixPartners. Bonuses and promotions are huge black boxes: communication on how they are calculated is non existant.

Pros

Results oriented - will show Clients the money! Very competitive compensation Really smart colleagues - often the best at other consulting Firms No up or out - you can go for MD if you want or be a career Director, but even if staying as a Director, there is no compromise on quality of work

Cons

Career growth is not structured, you will have to use your network to grow Staffing process needs to be improved

Pros

Everyone is very intelligent that works at AlixPartners. Some of the results the firm produces for its clients (and the methodology behind these results) are truly amazing. The firm has grown incredibly over the last 5-10 years. The impetus for a lot of this growth is an expansion of service-offerings in which the foundation of the firm - turnarounds and restructurings - is no longer the largest revenue driver. I highly recommend working here.

Cons

The AlixPartners slogan, "When it really matters," means that sometimes the consultants are expected to work very long hours under a lot of stress in order to produce meaningful results for their clients "when it really matters."
