Pros

There's a lot to like about Alkermes. The disease areas the company works in are some of the most challenging and devastating issues facing society (mental health and addiction). The team working here is very open and collaborative which makes for a great working environment. The company genuinely cares about its employees and provides lots of opportunities for professional growth.

Cons

As the company grows, it's gone through a lot of the normal growing pains other companies face. Certain areas of the company may be under-resourced, but there's a pretty strong hiring push.

Pros

Collaborative work environment, many very bright & committed coworkers, alignment in mission to improve the lives of people living with serious mental illness and substance use disorder, professional growth opportunities/opportunities to do challenging work, for the most part people work very hard at Alkermes. Company is growing and evolving despite some setbacks.

Cons

Senior management lacks diversity by race or gender -- as is true with most biotech leadership it is very white male dominated. Company will benefit by integrating cultural competency training into organizational culture.

Pros

HR cares about feedback from employees; seeks to make work/life better and promote positivity. R&D has a lot of innovation with opportunities to learn new skills.

Cons

The wrong people are being promoted or hired into senior management rolls due to rapid growth and crunched project timelines. A lot of great talented scientists are leaving or have left either because they are treated poorly by their manager or because their career development requests are being ignored so they see no other way to grow.
