- Engaged, responsive leadership. CEO and leadership team genuinely care about employees. CEO has vision and a point of view (not dull or irresolute) and is refreshingly transparent. - Inspiring and thriving internship program. Lots of fresh, innovative ideas. - Interesting, exciting work from all corners such as the Incubator and the new applied science teams. - Learning culture. Be curious. - Stellar operations team that cares (almost too much :) about making employees happy, healthy, and comfortable. They navigated through every Covid twist and turn with resilience and fortitude. - A commitment to and proven track record of sharing research (code, data, software, demos, models). - Above market salaries in non-profit sector, in some cases higher than industry.
Cons
- Fewer levels/opportunities for advancement in non-engineering roles. - Non-engineering and support staff are not always respected (this is at the colleague level; leadership is thankfully respectful, inclusive, and appreciative). - It's an AI institute so it's not surprisingly computer science centric. This can result in a lack of cross-disciplinary perspectives.
