Pros

ALLINA has been around a long time and has decent systems in place for many workflows and most roles. My most recent position was with Allina Hospice, and hi h was a phenomenally well organized, well-run, and compassionate outfit. Great job experience.

Cons

I often felt uncertain or insecure as to whether my position would last.

Pros

If you work more, you'll get paid more. Floor team is great after you get a bit of seniority

Cons

Their grid causes unsafe staffing ratios. Refuses to acknowledge this because they have "benchmarked." Leaves floor without an aide majority of the time Turnover is insane d/t management not supporting staff and higher acuity. Heard management being dismissive several times of nurses that were concerned about acuity v.s. patient safety. Pushes being charge nurse on nurses that have barely been RN's for a year. Disconnect between even middle management and floor RN's. Aides rarely preform NA duties. A NA getting vital signs is extremely rare.

Pros

Amazing culture in microbiology. Can't speak for the rest of the lab, we don't interact much with other departments Direct managers take concerns seriously Good pay (SEIU Union 4% raise annually to account for inflation and 4% raise yearly based on experience so total 8% yearly increase) No phlebotomy or patient interaction. Phlebotomy is its own department so chem, heme, etc doesn't do draws

Cons

Not many opportunities for upward mobility Long hours PTO awarded based on seniority (SIEU union) Upper management has no regard for lab concerns. We've lost 8 people since I started and no plans to hire. Quest merger was bad for patient care and a bad business decision Many times business decisions outweigh the needs of the patient
