Pros

Wonderful benefits package; really great coworkers; more support for innovative ideas and listening to complaints we had, as staff. Most of all, the management really implemented safety measures to keep patients and staff safe on the job, reducing injuries across the board. Uninsured individuals given no different treatment. Overall, good place to work.

Cons

There are obviously problems with select staff members, but it seemed like management was willing to listen to this, most of the time. One big problem in BHS is that the group therapy staff kept getting fewer hours, or they didn't hire new staff, and this was a problem for the nursing staff, because we had to put out many more fires that likely wouldn't have been issues if patients had been less bored and more engaged in therapeutic activities.

Pros

The employees make it worth coming in day to day.

Cons

The pay and benefits are awful. We have the highest health care employee costs. The best annual review rating will only earn you 3 percent raise. With the cost of living what it is I don't know how much longer I will be able to continue to work at Allina. Sr. Management really needs to be overhauled. Every year the engagement reports faults Sr. Management and nothing ever gets done about it.

Pros

well-respected hospital in the community. Abbott Northwestern is a great heart hospital and most doctors are great. Unfortunately, they have to spend too much of their time pleasing management. The bosses are the ones who control everything and of course, make the money.

Cons

Too corporate with big salaries going to the CEOs, not the medical professionals and periphery. money is way too important here when negotiating and communicating with employees. they even give out "report cards" as to how "we" are doing. as if the average employee cares or can influence most financial outcomes for the hospital. they are kidding themselves if they think we think this stuff is important to us personally.
