Pros

As an independent contractor with Allstate, you have opportunity for growth and rewards comensurate with your individual efforts.

Cons

Being captive, you have to work around the competitive positions in the products you have to sell. If a particular line is not priced correctly, you will have a very difficult time selling it and growing your book.

Pros

Stability, the ability to help others and the various positions. The company is still here after some rough times (Hurricane Katrina especially) and still very strong. Most of the people are there to help and that reasoning makes it a very good place to work. I have been around the company for over 30 years from sales to underwriting to claims and they all find people that work to find a way to get it done and make things right for the customer.

Cons

Sometimes, company management looks at the 3 keys to the company; employees, company and shareholders and seems to forget one of the pieces of the triangle, the employee.

Pros

Opportunity to be your own boss and make decisions on how you run your own agency. Unlimited earnings potential depending on how hard you work. There is a good management support in our area to help us succeed and do the right things. However, it is still on the agency owner to take action!

Cons

Have to make sales to earn an income...the first few years are up and down depending on the amount of sales you make. In economic downturns, it makes it tougher to achieve the goals you set for yourself, but they are possible! Change is inevitable, but I don't like the fact that they we sign a contract that allows them to change without talking to the owners about it.
