Pros

At the time, the market potential was limitless and ideas on tapping that market were plentiful. Commaraderie amongst peers within organizations was better than most other companies I worked.

Cons

Extremely poor communications and project execution. One of the significant contributors to their downfall; it will take a career lifetime for them to become relevent again (and as profitable as they once were). Overall, poor leadership with significant pay differential between management and individual contributors; yet, they pressure individual contributors continuously with little reward.

Pros

GMAC requires no experience for exceptional cantidate references They will put you through school internally to help you succeed at their company.

Cons

Their computers are very slow. You have to arrive at least 15 minutes early to turn the computer on... so the program can load and you can clock in. The company uses no punch card time clocks. The company only uses a program that you must pull up and enter your employee id number and hit enter and you are clocked in. The thing is, when the computer is slow loading , and even though you were early, I used to get in trouble, "called in the office and talked to" when it showed on the program that I was late. They dont acknowledge their slow computers, and the fact that everyone arrives early just to try to get the program up in time to sign in...

Pros

Even though I've only been aboard a short time, I'm impressed with the individuals I work with. The hours and benefits seem better than with other companies of similar size. New hires receive 27 days off between PTO and Holidays, which is rather generous given the turmoil with the business. Now that the GMAC is a bank holding company, I believe there's a tremendous opportunity in the future both near and long term

Cons

Not sure yet; have not been there long enough to know
