Pros

The job is steady (somewhat -- see 'cons'), pay and benefits are decent. Depennding on the supervisor you have, work life can be pleasant or miserable.

Cons

The business has been changing so much over the past 5 - 10 years that you're always wondering when (not IF) your job or office will be outsourced or eliminated. Employees and tasks are constantly being shuffled to increase the bottom line. It is a business and that may be what needs to be done to stay afloat; however, it seems as though employees are treated merely as a number or a statistic.

Pros

Pay and benefits were above average compared to other similar-sized financial companies...from what I heard. Bonuses had been very good...until 2005.

Cons

This company has been in turmoil since 2006 (subprime mortgage debacle)...In the division I worked (ResCap), it was just a matter of time being laid off. Employee morale was terrible.
