Many thanks for the feedback. Working with some of the biggest and most successful businesses in the world comes with high expectations. As such, the associate role is fast paced, requires a commercial mindset and a willingness to succeed. We offer a high-performance, high-support environment so our employees know what is expected of them but understand we are always there to support them and their growth. - Thank you, Chris, SVP Asia

Pros

100% the people. Everyone here cares about each other so much, and the community is awesome. Unfortunately, I think that's the only reason people stay

Cons

Long hours, and to be honest, they work so hard to hire people form prestigious schools but an elementary schooler could do this job

We appreciate you leaving your thoughts. As a fast-growing business player in the client service industry, we must ensure that our teams serve to the highest standard. Sometimes that means working extra hours to meet the high expectations of our clients. The Associate role is an entry-level role and involves intense, high-frequency project work initially. We hire candidates based on their potential to become (i) Managers running sizable teams after two years, (ii) VPs leading multi-million-business-units after five years, and (iii) senior firm leaders in a multi-thousand employee high-growth business after eight years. - Sincerely, Dominique, SVP Europe

Pros

- fun coworkers - social events -

Cons

- official hours are 50 hours a week but you often are expected to work 60+ hours a week - management is only former associates, leading to 1) a resistance to change (idea is “I sucked it up so you have to too,” 2) inexperienced 20-somethings with too much authority over peers and 3) leadership who did end up sticking around were the people who played into the toxic culture and perpetuate it - you are expected to be “on” until you sleep. client communications at 11pm are expected to be addressed. Client communications at 6am are expected to be addressed before you start work. - pay is not great, and if you don’t hit “hurdle” you get no commission at all - over 50% turnover across teams is not normal. They take smart, driven kids, burn them out, and then seek out a new class to suck up all remaining shreds of dignity and hope

I'm sorry to hear you did not have a good experience working at AlphaSights. I've responded to a few topics you raised below: Workload: Like many other professional services companies, we occasionally do need to respond to clients outside of working hours. I recognize that this is not your average 9-5 job and that this role is not for everyone. We do offer a generous vacation package and wellbeing resources to make sure people take time off to recharge. Management: Our managers are younger, and this is why top-tier talent joins AlphaSights. We have robust HR and PD processes in place that help managers get up to speed quickly, and help them course-correct when needed. I do appreciate your feedback and we will continue to listen to our employees and determine the best courses of action to continue improving our firm. In response to your advice, we believe feedback is a huge benefit and essential to any individual's growth. We ask everyone to provide feedback to their managers (including our co-CEOs) because feedback helps everyone better themselves, regardless of how senior they are. Leadership also collects feedback at least twice a year through an employee survey and we study it in detail before deciding on any process changes. We juggle lots of different factors when making decisions, but employee feedback is one of the most important. I wish you well in your next chapter. Thanks, Sean, COO
