Pros

Great clothes, really relaly really good discount, motto was cool, but poorly executed that they opened on Sunday, when they promised that was something they would never do

Cons

Awful management that didn't take the time to visit the store and see what the issues were. Not a lot of room for serious growth outside of store.

Pros

Only the girls I've met who worked with me. These lovely ladies who work hourly get no where near the hours they need.

Cons

There is no quality of life at Altar'd State. They firmly believe in working their salaried employees to death. Min hours a week is 45 but they normally work you 50 to 60. This is how they save on payroll. They have no coverage on the floor except for salaried managers so customers get very little attention while shopping and because there aren't enough employees working their theft rate is through the roof. Pay rate is not at all competitive it is very low especially for the hours you are working. If you have any sort of life you would like to maintain outside of work then this is not the job for you. When you work for Altar'd State you are Altar'd State it becomes your whole life, according to upper management it is more important then your health your family and God. As someone who took 3 years of design I can say without a doubt that the clothes are poorly made with some of the cheapest materials. Then they turn around and sell it for outrageous prices. It's no wonder they have a minimum of 30 returns a day. Training is a joke, during my interview I specifically asked about training and I was told they do extensive training. They gave me one day of training then reprimanded me for not knowing how to do tasks I was never trained for. They claim that their business is all about giving back, but they have barely donated any money, while they are getting rich off this concept. It is also rumored that the giving back is a scam, but I don't know this for sure. Upper management including direct reports to the CEO are very rude. They don't listen to your needs for your store. In a conversation I had with my direct report this person would not listen to anything I had to say about my concerns for the store. They actually spoke over me while i was talking in a disrespectful manner. I've never experience a conversation like that from someone in a position of upper management.
