Pros

Being able to help companies that are actually trying to better the world and it's people, being able to sell not only clothing and shoes but a variety of items from pillows to dog bowls to deamcatchers to decor for your walls.

Cons

Long days, I was often called in on off days for various reasons. Lack of direction, you are frequently being told one way of doing something is right then scolded when you do it that way because guidelines change so frequently. Complete lack of communication on all of the guidelines. Broken promises from dm, promised all sorts of fixturing and visual items to overnights with visual leaders to learn the expectations and recovery of a previously managed store.

Pros

Amazing employee discount, decently flexible hours, easy to be creative.

Cons

Terrible pay, I know it's retail and typically pay isn't great but there's really not any real chance of getting a raise of any sort. I absolutely hated that I felt like I was being forced to hound the customers, I would be asked to pester obviously annoyed customers and it made me uncomfortable and the customer uncomfortable as well. And I just don't like how I was encouraged to make sure the customer gets the most expensive things possible. It seemed to be like managers really put getting a profit before customer satisfaction. I also don't really know about the quality of the clothes for the prices.. I had bought a dress that was around $70 and then a few months later found the exact same dress with the same brand and everything at TJ MAXX of all places for $15. I would look online at the brands you're considering buying at Altar'd.. I could almost guarantee you can find them for a great deal cheaper.

Pros

For the most part the leaders in the company are fantastic. The director of stores, Mary Beth, is by far the nicest person I have ever met. She could walk in and tell you that your store was a wreck but she has such a great attitude that she wouldn't ever make you feel like you were incompetent. Absolute pleasure to be around her. Aaron the CEO seems nice enough the times I've met him ,but as one would expect people walk on egg shells around him and he has a spotty reputation with some; however, saying he sits next to the devil like one reviewer stated is wildy critical. The company really lets you know the inner workings of your business and are a no holds bar when it comes to sharing profit and loss. They do offer a bonus program, 401k, insurance, PTO, etc. These are newer benefits as the company is growing. There is wonderful growth potential.

Cons

There is a huge lack of consistency in the company. This is to be expected since its evolving but they really need to work on some large components that are necessary for running stores. An example would be shipments: You don't know how many boxes you are getting until just a few days before. Sometimes we never knew and that caused chaos.Floor set directives are sent days before the set and way after a schedule is made. Communication is lacking in a lot of areas. Expectations are extremely high with visuals and store experience but the payroll hours were not supportive of these demands. For the workload and expectations, the pay is not where it should be. This causes the company to burn through a lot of great people.
