Pros

You are able to manage many aspects of your own store. Great discount. The company has big dreams. They are very aggressive with their sales plans, and their store opening plans. They do give their employees opportunities to be involved with local charities. They encourage volunteer work, and reimburse hourly employees for a few hours a month.

Cons

There is no work life balance. There were many weeks here I would work 60+ hours, and many weeks consecutively without a day off, even though the store is closed on Sundays. There is a lot of room for growth and development within the company. Not only in regards to needing a more defined structure of upper level management, but also with in daily operations. Upper level management makes a lot of promises and doesn't follow through on any of them. The pay is poor. The CEO is very hot headed and has unrealistic goals for his stores and his employees. He does not provide the resources to achieve what he is asking for. A lot of ultimatums are made when things do not go his way.

Pros

40-50% discount is nice, they're good about giving back and donating a percent of sales, get paid to volunteer, salary is decent

Cons

Where do I start. Lets begin with the fact that they promote a good little "christian store." We're suppossed to be closed on Sundays, but what that really means is that all the workers come in EVERY Sunday and rearrange the store and do markdowns with some working 16 hour shifts!!!! We spend hours perfecting the store to only have it all redone by corporate the following week. I have met the CEO and let me just say that I would not want to work for him. He doesn't even bother to talk to anyone besides the managers, and works us to death and expects the impossible. There have been nights I got home around 2am, with school the next morning. Only 2 people close on weekdays, and the store is too big for just 2 people to close. The managers just do the registers, and so the associate is left to basically do everything. Also on Friday and Saturday the store doesn't even close till 10.
