Pros

I worked at Altar'd State during the summer of my freshman year of college (June-August 2024). My main intention was to make as much money as I could before I returned to college in NYC. Although I was hired to work part-time, they gave me up to 40-42 hours a week. After the first week noticing other "part-time" sales associates were working 40+ hours, I told management I wanted to work 40 hours as well to reach my financial goal. This was a pro for the money. I ended up making around $5K that summer. I also like to highlight, I enjoyed working with the team. Most people I got along with which made the time go fast, but that didn't take away the tears of exhaustion I had at the end of the day (not all but some), which I'll get to in a second.

Cons

Although it was great making my financial goal for that summer, I was exhausted. There were so many times I was scheduled to leave at 7pm and ended up leaving around 12-1am because I was required to have everything ready for the next day along with another sales associate and a manager. Several managers quit within the first month I started working there, so the store was understaffed. Towards the end of that summer, management improved their system of organizing go-backs in order to prevent staying at the store past 10pm. So hopefully at this point, it's a lot better.

Pros

50% employee discount that works online and in store

Cons

The dress code is too restrictive, can get sent home for wearing cream sweater instead of white. Christian values pressed on you from the beginning, including in orientation, however this was not disclosed during the interview. Have also heard that every Sunday an employee meeting is held where everyone prays and a sermon is read. I have not attended, so I am unaware if it is mandatory or not.

Pros

Do not work for this company.

Cons

White workers are allowed to mistreat and harass the minority workers with no intervention from management. Horrible pay. The higher ups play favorites. And the worst attitudes you've ever seen at a professional setting.
