Pros

GIVE BACK IS AMAZING. Hands down, this company made me fall in love with giving back. The CEO and upper management's hearts are truly in the right place, I'm a firm believer in that. I had an amazing relationship with the rest of my district during my time at Altar'd. We were like a huge family, you could call anyone for anything and they would help you right away. My store even felt like my second family. I watched so many of my associates grow and it made me incredibly happy. Nothing could ever replace being told "you're a great manager."

Cons

There are unfortunately times when new upper management steps in or you are challenged by an assistant manager who you only had good intentions for and you believed they had the same for you as well. These can be extremely hard times. I received a new District Manager and I went from an amazing DM who I could always count on responding to me, or give me straight advice, to a District Manager who simply had her mind made up about me from the beginning. I never received a sit down conversation with my new DM, although my assistant and key holders had the privilege to. After speaking to my DM on the phone twice, I was told that I didn't have "World Class Leadership" to run my store. This was told me to over the phone. I will never think it is acceptable for any boss to tell their associate something to that extent over the phone. I don't see that person as a leader, I see them as someone who was out to "win" and doesn't care about their people. I don't see Altar'd State as that kind of company. I know they care about their people and love those who run their stores. I truly hope future hiring is not based on who a person knows or who they've worked with in the past, but where their heart and skills are. I think it is important that they are truly what Altar'd State stands for. This District Manager is very talented and I can see that. There is only 1 original manager about to be left in our district out of 8 of us. I hope and I pray that this remaining manager is treated differently, and even when business gets tough, she is guided and helped, not booted to the curb.

Pros

I liked how you had the freedom of doing your own visuals .Because I had this job on my resume I felt like it was easier to get a job else where because the store always looked beautiful and other managers from different companies saw it.

Cons

This company has a major turn over . I was with the company for over a year and had two store manager and four ASM leave. We all left for the same reason which was over worked and under payed . We consistently had to come in and work on our off days to get things done . We were always getting sick and having to use our sick days bc we were just exhausted and needed Sleep . One time my manager called me to come in on my off day and I said no because Ihad already worked my 45 hrs and I had plans to be with my family . She got so mad at me and told me work needs to be my priory even if I was already at my 45. Another example of how i was over worked is when it was time for me to leave work. I worked a 7a-6 p shift and the DM was visiting the store And she saw me leave and asked for me to stay longer to finish processing shipment . I said I'm sorry but I just worked a 10 HR shift and it was my time leave . She looked at me crazy and rolled her eyes . The one thing i learned here was to how to was to say NO .

Pros

I like what the company gives back.

Cons

It's a very negative place. The store manager is rude, and talk to you any kind of way. The employees are rude. I worked one day, and couldn't go back, it's very unorganized. I will not be talked to, and treated any kind of way for $8 its ridiculous. Stay far away it's the worst company to ever work for. I would recommend this job to a young person that never had a job
