Pros

Lots of experience and ownership for younger engineers. Exciting new projects and smart coworkers. Work is challenging and satisfying but the road ahead is long.

Cons

Lots of politics be prepared to get back-stabbed by other groups. Watch what you say and write. Company is extremely frugal everything needs permissions before you can do anything. This slows down engineers. Don't expect raises negotiate your starting salary as high as possible. Lots of cronyism too be careful.

Pros

- Working on consumer products that are popular with the public - Opportunity to work with and learn from a lot of intelligent people - Being a part of the Amazon vision

Cons

- Corporate politics is alive and strong here. - Frugal to a fault. - Management doesn't like to promote from within and often times would rather hire from outside even if that person has no direct experience. - Lack of vision from senior executives. - Due to lack of vision, product definition takes place too slowly leaving engineers scrambling to deliver a product in too short of a time frame. During prototyping phase, this doesn't leave enough time to address problems and provide fixes before another build comes up. - Management likes to force unproven technology into products during short development cycles much to the chagrin of engineers. - Although this is a technology company, certain groups within the company have too strong a say into what engineering should and shouldn't design, even though they have no direct experience. - Little to no career advancement opportunities. - RSU vesting period leaves employee with very little if they do not stay until the multi-year vesting period ends. - Too many managers and not enough engineers. "Too much to to, too little time" due there being a lack of engineers.

Pros

- an opportunity to define the cutting-edge of technology - small teams, complete ownership of large parts of a project - solid accountability at all levels - the best part - helpful and kind people

Cons

I wish there was free food - a la Google or Facebook. Also, if the shuttle service could extend to people in an around the Bay Area/Peninsula (not just San Franciso and Morgan Hill) it would resolve most of the parking woes at the Cupertino offices.
