Pros

Pretty good pay. Smart coworkers. Interesting work. Even as an individual contributor, you will have a lot of product ownership.

Cons

Amazon is definitely not for everyone. Being on-call can be a major pain sometimes. Also, except for the pay, benefits tend to be pretty bare compared to other tech companies.

Pros

Really smart colleagues, decent pay and benefits. The largest scale you'll ever work on.

Cons

a corporate that does not value people and middle management that do not lead. I'm amazed it how chaotic and wasteful it is. And how the culture leads to a kind of callous disregard for anything other than self preservation.

* Get to work on exciting things from day 1. You set boundaries for yourself. * management is pretty good in terms of listening to engineers (at least for the technical part) * you can grow to be a leader * other smart engineers

Cons

* Frugality gets stretched too far sometimes * on call
