Pros

Decent hourly pay for entry-level delivery work Straightforward job duties (pick up, deliver, repeat) once you learn the system Staying active all day—good if you don’t want a desk job Independence on the road with limited micromanagement in the moment Some dispatchers and coworkers are helpful and try to support drivers when they can Quick learning curve—you can become competent fast Opportunity for full-time hours depending on staffing and volume Good short-term job if you need income fast and can handle pressure

Cons

High pressure / metrics-driven environment (constant focus on speed and performance) Workload can be unrealistic, especially with apartment-heavy or multi-location routes Routes can change last minute (rescues, reassignments, covering for injured drivers) Inconsistent support—often expected to finish without help even when overloaded Safety can feel secondary to performance, especially during bad weather or at night Long days are common, and you may end up out late depending on volume and route difficulty Breaks feel rushed due to constant time pressure Communication can come across as critical or passive-aggressive, even when framed as “motivation” Hours aren’t always consistent (some weeks full shifts, other weeks lighter) High turnover, which affects team stability and workload distribution
