Pros

Decent compensation. Org management is decent and values input from all engineers. Org projects usually have great customer benefit and rewarding to work on.

Cons

Losing trust in top management. Lots of projects from top that have very little benefit for the amount of effort involved. Ridiculous RTO policy being put into effect. S-Team seems focused on ruining culture of letting orgs choose their own direction and working style.

Pros

Competitive salary, work with some of the smartest people in the industry

Cons

Extremely growth focused and rarely career or engineer focused. Highly prioritize profit or customer needs and cares little about lower level engineers

Pros

If you have a good organization around you, it can feel like the sky is the limit. Unlimited resources, a huge talent pool, and a propensity to take big swings on innovative technology.

Cons

Amazon's culture is very driven by your immediate organization. If you are on a team where work-life balance is not respected, or operations is deprioritized over features, your leadership chain is to blame and no engineer can change that. Get out or get used to it.
