Through the assistance of a few managers who genuinely cared despite being told not to from above, I have managed to wind up fairly well compensated. I've found inclusion to be an important factor to the majority of people I've worked with.
Cons
My job has fundamentally changed 4 times in the last year and a half, as I've been punted from team to team. Word on the street is it's coming again before the end of the year. I'm in an oncall team, and I have worked more days doing a heavy oncall rotation more days than not since April. The newly announced 5-day RTO for January 2025 is another step in a long series of anti-employee decisions that feel focused on pushing people away from the company. I'm under the impression that Andy Jassy view employees as a temporary inconvenience until AGI comes along and replaces them.
