Pros

Health benefits, bonuses and 401K

Cons

Yes, the company does have 13 core beliefs/values but it is not practiced within the organization. One is: Communicate, communicate, communicate. No one does this!!! This is from our corporate office to our agency offices. As an employee you are expected to do tons, yes tons of work with no help. Our corporate office should serve as a resource for local agencies but serve as nothing more than "finger pointers" who gloat in the mistakes and downfalls of others. On a good day, one may be resourceful to have you reference a manual. On another day, you will get "Maybe, nope, might be on the intranet, etc." This is factual as I do wish other employees will come forward to disclose the truth. If you are a hard worker, it will be taken as a weakness! Work will be dumped on you. You will find yourself working 7 days a week with NO additional compensation. Any dreams for family time, personal time or time off are unrealistic. Hang it up! Please read the other reviews for others are telling the truth! This company is totally profit driven and cares ABSOLUTELY nothing about its employees, their families or anything other than money. Run far away from Amedisys, it is horrible.

Pros

Well, it's a job. It will make you an independent, stronger nurse. You will see just how large company management thinks. And you will learn their is no 40 hour work week.

Cons

If you ever wondered why medicare is broke, look at companies like Amedysis which are milking the health care system for all it's worth. The more you do the more you will have to do. There is no "stretching" to meet state medicare guidelines, it is straight up lies. Offices are rewarded by the numbers. Now I know a business has to make money to survive, but this company is like slave labor. I've tried to stick it out for the past year, thinking the problem was just our local office but now know it starts at the top and is a trickle down effect. Unfortunately, it's sick and dying people who are given mediocre care by an overworked staff. I cannot tell you how much I have aged in the past year. New Years resolution is to get out. Started interviewing already. To show you how sorry it is, I am the senior nurse and I've been there for a little less than a year!

Pros

Being a "Corporation" you get a few benefits like cost of Health insurance (which has gone up) & 401K.

Cons

Home Health should not be a Corporate Run Business.... Not the way Amedisys is. Numbers is the focus around here daily. They want as many new patients coming in, however dont want to spend the money to staff it. Working your fingers to the bone to get things done daily with no help, no thank you, no compensation, nothing. Just more emails on what's not getting done the way they think it needs to be (which will change tomorrow, by the way). Field clinicians are worked so hard & are expected to work more when they are off for the day doing the laptop paperwork. Training is all done electronic & nothing other than a question & answer session. Redundant paperwork is killing trees for a company thats "paperless" . The management turnover is so fast, you never know who to answer to & you can bet that what you were told to do last week has already changed, so they can fuss about how you are not doing things the right way today. Its like working with your hands tied behind your back, with expectations of working miracles. Not happening & no, I dont think it is "working in the other 500 offices" either! It seems to me that it looks like its across the board all full of drama & chaos in all offices. Never been so depressed & felt so incompatent as I do here, even though i should be thankful I have a job when so many others out there dont. It just makes it hard to be a cheerleader for a company that really, behind the scenes, doesnt care much about their employees.....
