Pros

A great place to get sales training, develop those communication skills, and it can be a lot of fun. Just remember to do everything your told and work your butt off and you will succeed where others will fail. I was with the Altig agency. The largest and most successful of AIL. If you have the choice, be with that agency. Having offices all over North America makes it a great company if you can or like to relocate. It's simply a matter of choosing to do so and there will be a job waiting for you.

Cons

Getting in the right office and agency is key. I was fortunate enough to be in the Nashville, TN Altig office and had an amazing mentor. But the wrong office, agency or mentor and you will likely fail. Also, the high turnover rate (overall average retention for agents is about 14%) is a huge moral killer. Typically if one goes, one or two will follow; especially if it's management. Also; depending on where you start (city), not being able to relocate could really hinder your advancement, not in title so much as in money.
