Pros

The pros are Amida has a great group of people, they are smart, motivated to do some amazing work in a tough industry of government and healthcare.

Cons

the CEO is a Nutjob! He should not be leading anyone ever! Not sure why the board has not removed him yet, maybe because they are all his friends! He talks about growing the company but takes these small crappie projects with no longevity. He has unrealistic goals of perfection and is ridiculous about the smallest things. the leadership team is decent, but no one can call the CEO out on his behavior its his way or the highway. You would be fine to work at Amida if you have zero contact with the CEO and that is virtually impossible when he is in EVERYTHING all the time. he has mommy issues so yes he has issues with women so beware!

Pros

I've been at Amida a little less than a year. Great perks (snacks, PTO, WFH two days a week, etc), good work/life balance Smaller company so room to learn and grow new skills - just ask the mgmt and they'll help you learn whatever you want to learn (within reason); plus most of my coworkers are very helpful. At least within the dev team, there is a good culture of working through conflict really well, which leads to stronger relationships and cuts out space for gossip etc. Additionally, most of the dev team has pretty decent social skills, which is nice and a little rare (at least in my experience). Good culture of celebrating/honoring people who serve others, go above and beyond, and take initiative.

Cons

Open office - the departments are partitioned off and divided by conference rooms/office, and there are dividers betweens desks, so it's not totally open, but can occasionally get loud. Consulting - we recently had a couple of contracts that weren't software development but were consulting focused, but all the devs complained and leadership responsed accordingly, so we'll see if anymore of those kind of gigs pop up. There are a ton of bad reviews on here about the CEO, which nearly kept me from taking a job here. However, from my limited experience, he seems like a more polite and friendly CEO type than most of the CEO of companies I've worked for. He can be blunt and I've heard he's super nit-picky about powerpoints, but he generally seems like a good leader (gives good vision, publicly honors those who do a good job, etc), but I also rarely interact with him as a software dev, so that's my two cents, and really enjoy working here, so there's that.
