Pros

Collaborative workplace with opportunities to innovate and contribute on meaningful projects. My favorite aspects of working at Ampere is how intellectually engaged I am each day, and how we work together to solve novel problems.

Cons

Our work is fast-paced and requires a lot of cross-functional collaboration amongst many teams. I personally really like this aspect of the the work environment, but also know engineers who who prefer to work in isolation.

Pros

Lots of interesting work to do as an engineer and impact of achievements is really felt due to the small company size. Close communication between designers, DV, and architecture for coordinating work. Lots of senior engineers to learn from and plenty of pleasant people to be friends with. Freedom to approach problems in innovative ways. Compared to other large corporations, less bureaucracy and multiple organization political struggles, never feel siloed and no competing teams working on the same problem in different ways. PDX building is really nice, great roof top deck, free snacks, and free beer for happy hour.

Cons

Small company which has some growing pains, but to be expected. No extravagent on-site perks like free meals and no cafeteria for buying meals on-site. Large amount of compensation is tied up in RSUs which will only become liquid if company goes public. Big upside if it does, but more risk.
