Pros

Good work-life balance in that people clear out of the office as quickly as possible at the end of the day. Free soft drinks and very limited quantities of free snacks. Opportunity to be smugly self-congratulatory about doing "good".

Cons

Truly stunning levels of incompetence at the executive levels. Engineering talent is bottom of the barrel. Rank-and-file keep busy with CYA. Brooklyn office is in dangerous disrepair - leaks, heat/AC issues, elevators regularly drop multiple floors or get stuck.

Pros

Nice offices, a lot of autonomy when working on projects. Not micro-managed.

Cons

mean and competitive coworkers, management team verbally articulated distrust of young employees, very very sexist work environment, little guidance given on projects.

Pros

The office is fine. The high point is a nice deck with a beautiful view over the East River. Great place to take lunch for an hour or two while complaining about your job. The neighborhood in general is nice and has good lunch options as well. Oh, and the pay is good.

Cons

There USED to be a great tablet division in Manhattan with lots of great employees and an interesting set of products. This division is all but gone in the name of "One Amplify," the initiative to combine all divisions and share technology and practices. It was initially pitched as increased communication and cooperation between divisions. The end result is that the tablet division was dissolved and all of their products were canceled. Almost everyone from that division has left the company over the last few months, those remaining (including myself) were shipped to Brooklyn. No one here seems to really care about education. Most of the talk from product sounds more like marketing. The state of tech here is dismal. Releases happen once every three months and take two weeks. Our servers are managed by a horribly understaffed remote team. It takes weeks or even months to get something as simple as a testing environment to deploy to. Unsurprisingly, we're still losing people at a hilarious rate. And there's a hiring freeze on. Disclaimer: I'm just bitter because this was the best job I had ever had, but it only lasted a few months before my division was shut down.
