An honest review…not a bitter one.

Pros

Patterned layoffs, so there’s an opportunity to plan for the worst.

Cons

The importance of leaving not only a review that I hope helps others, but an honest one that expands on my experience and I know the experience of others that are “scared” to speak up. The Technical Onboarding department was probably the most toxic, misled, and truly worst part of the company. As an employee that attempted to see the potential in what I thought were company values, turned out to be a huge mistake on my behalf. Yearly, I witnessed people that had given their all to the work, including training and carrying the workload of higher-ups, only to be dismissed as if they were nothing. I watched other departments speak to and talk to employees within Technical Onboarding on a regular basis, in a condescending manner and upper management sit back and do nothing about it. I saw contractors be promised that if they are “good little boys and girls”, they’ll find job security thereafter, only to be released after contributing such hard work. This place has no humility nor decency and ONLY takes care of their people. I commend people that I saw leaving because I knew they had reached a breaking point, and made a very smart move. In my time at Amplify, I saw some of the most highest levels within a company structure fired. Some, promoted and then abruptly fired. It was heartbreaking and even more difficult when you saw how easy it was for people to do these things, and then laugh and smile in a team meeting and talk about hats and tacos after shattering people’s personal lives minutes before.

High Demands, Low Support, Toxic Environment

Pros

The pay is okay, but the workload is excessive and often includes responsibilities outside the original role without additional compensation.

Cons

This is the most toxic workplace imaginable. Colleagues constantly fight and bicker over minor issues, creating a hostile and stressful environment. Management mocks and ridicules employees for asking questions instead of offering support or guidance. If you want to feel defeated and demoralized, this is the place for you. Management also plays favorites and makes it obvious, which further damages team morale.

Pros

The company covers trips to New York, provides complimentary food and drinks, offers a competitive salary, and includes a 401(k) starting on day one.

Cons

The onboarding is extremely poor. You’re required to watch videos about office behavior, but there is no guidance on how to actually do your job. There is no real training for day-to-day responsibilities, and no support team to turn to. You’re left to rely on coworkers for help, and only if they feel inclined to give you their time. Your manager provides no meaningful direction or feedback, offering vague reassurances like “you’re doing great” while simultaneously asking others on the team about your performance. Job security is another major concern. Layoffs seem to happen every other year, which is evident from the constant number of Amplify employees on LinkedIn marked as “Open to Work.” When I was there, the most senior members of the team had only been with the company for about three years, a clear sign of ongoing turnover. When layoffs occur, they happen in large waves and are communicated through mass Zoom meetings. You should consider yourself lucky if you last more than two years. If you’re an experienced project manager considering this role primarily for the salary, don’t be misled. After a layoff, you’re required to sign an NDA and a non-compete agreement that can make finding another job extremely difficult. I was drawn in by the pay and the promise of remote work, but it turned out to be a mistake. I ignored the negative reviews I found about the company, and unfortunately, they proved to be accurate.
