Pros

Great benefits, easy work. Can be pretty laid back.

Cons

They do not want to hire within and promote. If you're not military, with job corps, or do not know someone of importance, good luck even getting your foot in the door. All in all Amtrak can kiss my cheeks.

Great place to work save for the nepotism

Pros

Great benefits and pay as well as a very flexible schedule make Amtrak a great place to work. Payed time off is one of the best perks.

Cons

There is a lot of nepotism going on at almost all levels. Several people end up getting lighter punishments for failing to show up to work or showing up drunk. Many people got their jobs or promotions because of a high ranking family member. The union also does a pretty bad job of working for its members, and often makes deals that they know the workers will dislike.

Pros

Pay is pretty good, benefits are fine, but used to be better

Cons

Not much appreciation for the people who actually "make the wheels turn" (i.e. Keep the trains running.) If you don't need positive feedback for a job well done, it's a pretty decent place to work.
