      Good money, bad management

      Pros

      The people were mostly good to work with and good at their jobs. The salary and bonuses were pretty good. Your personal machine was always top of the line.

      Cons

      There was a lot of empire building that went on that detracted from getting things done. A lot of the managers were in constant competition to get their tool/idea to be adopted at any cost. There were also some reasonably high up managers that were totally incompetent, but nobody was going to do anything about it.

      Pros

      Can build expertise in many areas (problem modelling, preprocessing tools, solvers, various models, postprocessing etc), and have access to various applications in the industry such as energy, process, oil and gas, automotive etc.

      Cons

      Only work on short term problems/projects. So, the expertise can be developed in width, but not sufficient in depth. Work may be trivial sometimes.
