Pros

Set schedule, fun work activities, easy repetitive work, Fidelity 401K

Cons

Management is HORRIBLE, the “new” lab manager (held position since summer ‘24) is messy & comparable to a dirty politician. Will try to be friendly just to get the office scoop and make sure her short comings aren’t being the topic of conversation. Doesn’t care; don’t fall for the code switching. Big crabs in a barrel type environment. SP supervisor is a bully who lacks compassion and adult level maturity. Plays favoritism, holds personal grudges, very petty. Scared of her more rowdy employees and consistently picks and chooses what transgressions to address. Has people under her supervision that should have been fired years ago but because she picks on the “small” people (&I DO mean that literally and figuratively) and scared of others… those deserving of termination get to keep their jobs while others are forced out. Management claims to be on one accord but discusses each others personal business in office whispers to other employees/departments on a day to day basis. Nothing is being done nor has been done because that’s literally the culture there. HR is a revolving door/non existent and upper management literally just hold titles. Will lower pay on job postings just to keep employees from attempting to move departments, will promise promotion, lie on job postings about experience requirements etc just to keep people in their position. Again like crabs in a barrel.

Pros

Consistent 40 hours weekly. Hybrid work from home 3 days per week.

Cons

Abysmal pay well below all averages national and local. $21.50 starting pay, annual raises don't exceed 3% (40-70 cents). Management is fractured between departments, Toxic individuals with decades tenure are not held accountable for unprofessional workplace practice. This is in no way a meritocracy, individuals who do the bare minimum slide by while high performers are the only individuals held accountable with a disproportionate workload. No room for promotion or career growth, after months of technical challenges we received $10 gift cards as a thank you, Constant reminders of record profits for Mars corporation while the entire department is paid below the average for the state of California. I worked with some direct supervisors who I believe to be legitimately good people. I quickly came to learn they essentially have no power, to promote, to give raises, or to make structural changes. This department is the corporate untouchables and constantly reminded of their place at the bottom of the food chain.
