Pros

I have been a developer my entire life, and have always been interested in AI since I started programming in middle school. Those of you that know the tech world know that you do not always get to choose what you get to work on even when you join a company that is in your area of interest. When I joined AppCard, I knew I would be working with some of the best developers in the world and quite frankly was a bit star struck when I got to meet the CTO and CEO these are 2 guys with some serious credentials, the CEO is the guy behind ICQ and AOL AIM 2 platforms I spent countless hours on in my teenage years (Happy Glassdoor is anonymous:). During my interview, I was told that the company would be working on some pretty cool tech in the POS industry and that we would be working on machine learning around consumer behavior, this seemed to be the closest I had gotten to working with AI in a real world setting and was pretty excited. Over the last year and half, this company has continued to push the envelope on technology and has left machine learning as a pleasant memory for a deep learning AI powered marketing platform. The mentorship I have received is invaluable and I feel like i am part of something that is going to be huge. I am just grateful for this experience and to have found a place that really stimulates my interest and continues to evolve. I won't name my last company but it felt like "Ground Hog Day" everyday compared to what I am doing now.

Cons

Need more communication with the sales team, they are customer facing and it would be nice to hear what they think more directly and how customers are reacting to new products.

Pros

I haven't been at AppCard for too long, but my time here has been great. I came from another company in the advertising space, a pretty big company, and the difference is night and day. AppCard is just past the start up phase, but the whole company is really involved in making the company successful, I dont really know how to describe it. I want to say it is like being on a treadmill where you are constantly moving and no one stops running toward the goal, but I think that that is not the right way to put it, because unlike a treadmill you are getting somewhere and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I guess I would liken it more to a marathon, where you have a goal and everyone around you is cheering you on and pushing you to succeed but it is a lot of work and without their support you would never make it. I joined the company at the tail end of working with SMBs, very shortly after, the company really began focusing on Franchises and Grocery stores, I was actually here during the acquisition of another company in the grocery industry, which was really exciting to be a part, I have never been at a company when it bought another company, pretty cool. Since then, it feels like a huge family, teams work together from start to finish on accounts, sales people actually help with communication with clients and cross pollinate skill sets, I am learning how to sell as many times franchises continue to grow and we need to keep onboarding new locations. I even get to work some wioth our tech team as we are told that we can solve anything for our customers and to always figure out a solution, this is probably my favorite part as I knew nothing about development before i came here, not that i am learning to code, but i am getting to see how the process works. Our CEO is great, although I dont know how he does it, but he is out of the office visiting clients all the time. We get face time with him and the other executives pretty frequently as they like to hold meetings for any new things that they are planning to roll out. Company is a lot of wrok, but the support system and common goal is what makes this a good place me.

Cons

So much to do there isnt a lot of room for error. If someone misses a meeting it can throw your whole day off. Company events are usually in restaurants, be more fun to have activities I get thats not easy or cheap in NYC.

Great Times at AppCard

Pros

The company is growing. We recently acquired Prologic and almost doubled in size. Have 3 offices now and thousands of happy retailers working with us. In the last year, we signed some big retailers, many franchisee systems and in general really good brands. The office is buzzing, sales and account management are working closely together and now with the addition of Prologic’s team members it is really humming. Culture is great, lots of fun, snacks and in general very open environment. Everyone (including VPs and CEO) sit in the same big open space and all work together to make our clients happy.

Cons

It is a startup, so sometimes priorities change quickly and we release products which have some quirks – but I guess this is the nature of a startup that is not afraid to make mistakes and experiment – so the end result will be the best in class.
